Stay in the Heart of Florence’s Historic San Lorenzo – Where Art, History, and Local Charm Come Together

Imagine staying in Florence’s vibrant San Lorenzo district, a neighborhood that is not just near history, but a part of it. Nestled in the very heart of Florence, our short-term rental apartments offer you a front-row seat to the wonders of Renaissance art, culture, and local Florentine life. In San Lorenzo, every street and corner tells a story—and from the windows of our apartments, you’re steps away from some of the city’s most enchanting secrets.

A Neighborhood Steeped in Medici Legacy

San Lorenzo is famously tied to the powerful Medici family, the patrons of the Renaissance who shaped Florence into the cultural treasure it is today. Just around the corner from your apartment, you’ll find the Medici Chapels, one of Florence’s most iconic landmarks. These chapels, designed by Michelangelo and adorned with intricate marble statues, serve as the final resting place for generations of the Medici family. Standing in the Cappella dei Principi or the Sagrestia Nuova, you’ll feel the gravity of their legacy, surrounded by stunning works Michelangelo himself sculpted.

Discover Michelangelo’s Secret Room

Adding to San Lorenzo’s allure is a more recent and intriguing discovery. In 1975, during routine renovations, art restorers uncovered a hidden room beneath the Medici Chapels that would come to be known as “Michelangelo’s Secret Room.” This hidden chamber, closed off for centuries, holds charcoal sketches on its walls—believed to be done by Michelangelo himself as he hid there during a period of political turmoil. These haunting drawings offer a rare glimpse into the genius of an artist whose influence still resonates throughout Florence.
